Portugal have booked their place in the Round of 32 at the 2026 World Cup after a goalless draw with Colombia in their final Group K match, a result that sent both teams into the knockout stage. Colombia finished top of the group, while Portugal advanced in second place.
For fans in Canada, the biggest headline is now clear: Cristiano Ronaldo is coming to Toronto. Portugal will face Croatia in the Round of 32 on Thursday, July 2, 2026, at 7 p.m. ET at Toronto Stadium, in one of the most anticipated knockout matches of the tournament. Toronto’s official host city schedule lists the Round of 32 match for July 2 at 7 p.m. ET.
The Portugal-Colombia match in Miami ended 0-0, but it was far from uneventful. Colombia created several dangerous chances and had a late Davinson Sánchez header ruled out for offside, while Portugal struggled to find rhythm in attack despite needing a win to overtake Colombia at the top of the group.
The result means Colombia move on as Group K winners and are set to face Ghana in the next round, while Portugal’s second-place finish sends them into a difficult knockout test against Croatia in Toronto.
The Toronto match is expected to draw major attention from Canadian and international fans, not only because of the Portugal-Croatia matchup, but also because it could be one of Cristiano Ronaldo’s most important World Cup appearances on Canadian soil. For Toronto, the fixture adds another major global moment to its role as a 2026 World Cup host city.
