All eyes turn today, Thursday, June 25, 2026, to one of the busiest and most decisive days of the World Cup group stage, as three groups — D, E and F — reach their final round of matches. Six games are being played across the United States, with results expected to shape several spots in the Round of 32.
In Group E, Germany face Ecuador at 4 p.m. Eastern Time in a match that could affect the top of the group and the final qualifying order. Germany enter the day in a strong position after their earlier results, while Ecuador need a positive result to strengthen their chances. At the same time, Curaçao meet Ivory Coast in another important match, with both teams watching not only the group table but also the wider race for the best third-place finishers.
At 7 p.m., Tunisia play the Netherlands in the most important match of the day for Arab fans. Tunisia have already lost their first two matches against Sweden and Japan, ending their hopes of advancing, but the game remains an important final appearance for the Eagles of Carthage. The Tunisian side will be looking for a stronger performance and a more respectable farewell against a Dutch team still fighting for the best possible position in Group F.
The Netherlands, meanwhile, enter the match with clear competitive motivation, as they continue to battle for the top of the group. The other Group F match, Japan against Sweden, will be played at the same time, meaning the final standings could shift during the evening depending on goals and results in both matches.
Later in the day, attention shifts to Group D, where the United States face Turkey at 10 p.m. Eastern Time in Los Angeles. The U.S. team enter the match after a strong start to the tournament and will be looking to finish the group stage in the best possible position in front of home supporters. Turkey, on the other hand, are seeking a better ending to a difficult campaign.
At the same time, Paraguay face Australia in another important Group D match. That game could play a role in deciding the final order of the group and the qualifying picture, especially under the expanded World Cup format, where the best third-place teams also remain in contention for the knockout stage.
The importance of today’s matches goes beyond the individual results. With the new 48-team format, qualification is not limited to the top two teams in each group. The eight best third-place teams also advance to the Round of 32, making goal difference, goals scored and simultaneous results crucial factors until the final minutes.
For Arab fans, Tunisia’s match against the Netherlands remains the emotional highlight of the day, even though it will not change Tunisia’s overall fate in the tournament. It is the final chance for the national team to leave a better impression before exiting the World Cup, while attention will soon shift to other Arab teams, including Egypt and Saudi Arabia, who continue their own group-stage battles.
Between Tunisia’s farewell, the Netherlands’ push for the top of Group F, the United States’ late-night clash with Turkey, and the open qualification race in Groups D and E, Thursday stands as a key turning point before the World Cup moves fully into the knockout phase.
